Thank you everyone - re Ty's assessment

2003-12-21 02:27:38 AM
Thanks so much for all the support.
We will get there.
I went into Ty's room last night and just sat on the edge of his bed looking
at him feeling so much love and so much sadness at the same time.
He's our boy and we love him, I've just gotta snap out of this which I guess
I will soon, it's just when I think about it I get sad.

Re:Thank you everyone - re Ty's assessment

Again, I am so sorry. Do you celebrate any of the holidays this month?
Does Ty show any excitement? I was just thinking that a big smile and a
fit of giggles could fix any sadness. :)

he's easy enough to get excited *grin*
I was really looking forwards to a christmas where he'd know what presents
are, but he's not 'there' yet.
Will still be a nice day

Give yourself time to mourn what you've lost. As much as you love your
little boy, you have still lost your dream of what you wanted out of life
for him. I spent a full year in denial and then a year in depression before
I could say that I have come to terms with it. Be good to yourself, and
don't expect too much of yourself too soon. Think of joining a support
group of moms with kids of special needs (not just autistic kids, but kids
with a variety of disabilities). I found this SOOOO helpful. To hear other
moms voice their darkest thoughts (they they couldn't even share with their
friends or family) was therapeutic. Plus, when their children play with
Tavish, I don't feel so shy about what he CAN'T do and I rejoice (along with
the other moms) about the things he CAN do.
Just my humble opinion. Email me any time if you want to talk.

*sigh* Same here. He doesn't even rip open the paper yet. Maybe next
year.

(little tikes) some puzzles, etc.
But she doesnt know to 'want' anything, know what I mean?
BTW, I havent checked my email, Ive been very busy. Please let me know your
'waking' hours over there! ;-)

Get this one, gals, Abby can be in the room with the tree, its loaded with
presents, and she hasnt even moved the little gate dh "just propped" in front
of it to see if she would try and get in. However, I ask her 'where is the
christmas tree' and she will look at it.

We had friends come over with two gifts for Ty last night
The first gift Daddy helped him undo - translate, undid for him........ he
didn't even show interest in pulling the paper off once he saw there was a
toy in there... the first gift was a car....
The second gift... he took to Daddy... then when Daddy held it and said
"let's open it" Ty started driving the car all over it!!!
I am ROTFLMAO......... cause if you didn't lol, you'd cry!
